A mum of three was crushed to death in a freak accident after being pinned to the wall of a lift, an inquest heard.
Joan Daws, 64, was heard screaming "help me, I can't breathe" after a chair she was standing behind snagged on the edge of the lift as it started to descend.
The chair jammed the entrance to the elevator and flipped back, pinning Ms Daws to the wall by her throat at the care home where she was manager. Members of staff tried to rescue her as she screamed for help but were unable to prize the door open. Firefighters managed to gain access to Ms Daws and gave her emergency first aid but she died in hospital five days later from severe brain damage caused by traumatic asphyxia.
